2012 Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

This was truly a weekend of everything that flies!

We've always wanted to go and participate in this once in a year event in Clark, Pampanga but we never had a chance last year because we opted to go to Baguio instead. I even turned my team building down in favor of this and I must say that it's worth the fun and the experience. We purchased our ticket right in the event itself because we were not able to get an entrance ticket in advance from SM or ticket net. I must have underestimated the volume of people participating in this event. There were thousands of people going in this event every year. It was like a sea of people wanting to see how colorful the sky will be with these giant lanterns. Having that said, it takes time to get a ticket if you weren't able to purchase a ticket in advance. But Ron and I found ways. :)

We were outside SM Clark (Main gate)at around 4:00 a.m. where jeepneys that ply going in and out of Clark wait for passengers. There were enough jeepneys for everyone. When we get inside Clark, it was a bit traffic already considering the number of people participating. At 4:30 a.m. we were at the venue already. There were like a thousand of people waiting to get inside the venue. There were also dogs and pets you could bring inside if you wish to.

It was a little bit dusty outside and the flash of my camera can easily capture it. It was hard to get inside if you don't have the tickets purchased in advance. Nevertheless, It was a fun experience. The security is strict and does not allow bringing in of cigarette inside the premises.

The ticket costs Php 200.00 each and may be purchased from ticketing outlets such as ticket net and SM Malls. We went here on it's last day, Sunday and there was a huge volume of people wanting to go inside the venue.

We got ourselves our tickets

We were just outside waiting for the event to start. It was a little bit early so we just looked for our own space in the crowd. We were lucky since we were early we were able to occupy the place near where the hot air balloons were set up. Ron was just busy playing games in his phone while I waited for the event to start. It drizzled a bit which made the crowd sounded a bit frustrated as we thought it would delay or worse, cancel the event and we would have to wait in the afternoon for the hot air balloon. But it was a blessing that it stopped.

They were testing the burner which will propel the balloon up in the sky. =) Below are some of our pictures of the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta:

The event started by playing the National Anthem of the Philippines as one of the 5 skydivers bring the flag from the sky down to the land.

One of the sponsors of this event is Caltex and they have the replica of their gas station. We had some pictures with this cute gas station located just near where the hot air balloons were.

There were Kites, Aircraft, Hot Air Balloons, Para-gliders everywhere in the sky. On land there were some interesting trivia and exhibits presented.

There is this area where several concessionaires offer delectable dishes. There was this buffet styled restaurant which offered an eat all you can promo for I believe it was only Php 350.00 to Php 550.00 per person. I am just not that quite sure. There were KFC, Mc Donald's, Jollibee, Yellow Cab etc. as well.

I bought Palabok from Razon's

There were several souvenir and photo booth shops available everywhere in the venue. There we're Hot Air Balloon Lamps made of Capiz which cost Php 500.00 and above depending on the style. There were photo booths in which they would take a photo of you and edit it as if you were in a hot air balloon.

They also prepared free games for their guests. I played the hoola-hoop game in which I won a souvenir sticker from them. =) Here are some of the picture we had in their exhibit:

As we walk, we found this Sun Life Free Kites Promo. We had to stand in  line for minutes and all we had to do was just to pick from a bowl full of prizes. Luckily I was able to get a free kite while Ron got a binder.

There was this souvenir shop that sold miniature Hot Air Balloons which cost Php 150.00 to Php 200.00 each. We bought one for us.

That actually ends our Hot Air Balloon Weekend getaway. Thank you for reading our blog post. =)
